Our core values
Word-Centered
To be a healthy church the Bible must be the basis for all doctrine and practice. It will be the driving force for all teaching and preaching. Consequently the Bible will be the foundation for all areas of church life.
Gospel-Focused
Word-centeredness is the backbone for gospel-focused. The gospel is a message that comes from the Word, so we cannot get the gospel except through the Bible. At the center of the Bible is the gospel that Jesus saves. The gospel is the lifeblood of the church, and without it the church has lost her purpose. Many churches have lost their focus on the gospel and exchanged it for programs or activities. Hence the gospel will be the overarching focus for all we do.
Commitment
In a noncommittal world, commitment is essential to the life of a disciple, more commitment, not less. Jesus always wants His disciples to surrender more, never less. Therefore we will be marked by our commitment to Christ and His Church.
Authentic
Church is not a show. God sees through that and so do genuine believers, so an authentic church will make a churchy person feel uncomfortable. We should live authentic lives and reject phoniness. We would rather a messy church than a pretend one. As a result we will strive to be real in our brokenness and purposeful in our journey towards holiness.
Community
Since the church is known as the family of God because we are all adopted in Christ, a member should feel as though they have relatives that may not be related by blood (moms and dads, aunts and uncles, grandparents and grandchildren, etc.). A sense of belonging is a crucial part of a local church. Hence we will embrace the people God sends to us and love each other like Christ loves us.
Simple
Church has become complex in America, yet Jesus entrusted His church with lowly apostles. Church should be simple. Thus we will purposefully stay simple in a complex world. Programs will be few. Jesus, the Word, prayer, people—to name a few—will be the emphasis. Busyness will be rejected as a distraction in order to maintain focus on making disciples.
